Flash Fiction is a short story. A very short story. It has a beginning, a middle, and an end, just like a novel would, but it is told in as few words as possible. The definitive number of words has yet to be decided but generally, flash fiction is a story of 1000 words or less.

And in a world where everything is fast, sleep is optional, and books are going out of fashion, flash fiction is easily digestible, a story on one page, on a computer screen with no need to scroll through several hundred pages. Flash fiction is a revolution in story-telling.

  1. This is exactly what I need to work on myself. Couldn’t have said it any better. Too bad we are 20 days down and that I am new to the blogging world. But I’m glad I came across this post so soon, mentioning the same weaknesses and goals I need to work on. Keep up the great work. I’ll definitely be stopping by your blog on a regular basis. =)

    1. Glad to have you on board reading my stuff, and thanks for the comment too; love reading what people think about my writing. I really love the title of your blog, I’m hoping my words become my legacy too.
You don’t have to start a 365 project on the 1st of January; as long as it lasts for 365 days, I don’t think it matters what day you start on. Unless you’re like me who thinks that it is much neater to start on the 1st 🙂
